Announcements (December 2, 2001)

1. Our two-bit collection this Sunday is for Catholic Answers. Your contributions will further the work of this Catholic lay organization dedicated to evangelization and a reasoned defense of the Catholic faith. They have been particularly effective in their outreach to university students and young adults. Many of their pamphlets are available in the book rack in our vestibule.

2. Thank you for your contributions last weekend for Catholic Detention Ministry. $433 were donated to support this ministry to inmates of jails and prisons in the Archdiocese of Seattle. Also thank for the wonderful collection on Thanksgiving Day: $1,174 which will be used to help the poor in our own neighborhoods through our St. Vincent de Paul and Madre Teresa group.

3. Holy Family Youth group is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner next Saturday evening, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to our parish St. Vincent de Paul. Tickets are for sale in the vestibule after Mass.

4. Confirmation classes for those 16-20 will begin January 14. Archbishop Brunett will be here on May 23 for the celebration of the sacrament. Please call Vernon Wells at the rectory for more information and to register.

5. Our Young Adult Group, ages 16 to 20, meets every Sunday evening. If you wish to participate, simply come to the Ailbe House library at 5 p.m. The Junior High group, ages 12 to 15, takes place Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Please call Vernon Wells for more information.

6. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy is recited each Wednesday at noon to pray for those of Holy Family Parish who are ill. You are cordially invited to join this prayer in our church before the Blessed Sacrament.

7. This Thursday, December 6, is the first Thursday of the month. Fr. Bloom, Fr. Velasco and Fr. Luevano will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 4 to 8 p.m. in the church. Please take advantage of this opportunity to make your Advent confession.

8. This Saturday, December 8, is the feast of the Immaculate Conception - patronal feast day of the United States. A vigil Mass in Spanish will be celebrated Friday evening at 7:30 and an English Mass Saturday morning at 8 a.m.

9. (Sunday Morning Masses) Scrip is for sale after Mass. Scrip may be used to buy holiday gifts, for example a Toys "R" Us scrip certificate. Also available are Bon Scrip, Ace Hardware, QFC, Burger King, etc.
